Israel Conducts New Airstrikes on Southern Beirut Amid Regional Tensions
The airstrikes reportedly targeted the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, including buildings in Haret Hreik, Hadath, and the Liqi neighborhood, with smoke observed rising from the damaged structures. The attacks were executed within a span of less than an hour.
Information on casualties was not immediately available.
Israeli warplanes maintained a strong presence over the area during the operation, and the army had issued immediate evacuation warnings in advance, claiming that the targeted buildings served as “infrastructure for Hezbollah.”
The strikes come in the wake of a large-scale US-Israel offensive on Iran over the weekend, which reportedly resulted in nearly 800 deaths, including that of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran has since retaliated with drone and missile strikes aimed at Israel and Gulf countries hosting US assets, further escalating regional tensions.
