Ex-PM Hwang Kyo-ahn gets detained over martial law case
Hwang reportedly posted on Facebook after martial law was declared on December 3, calling for the elimination of pro-North Korea forces and individuals allegedly involved in electoral fraud. He also urged the arrest of National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik and then-People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon.
Hwang served as prime minister from 2015 to 2017 under former President Park Geun-hye and briefly acted as president from 2016 to 2017.
Investigators from special counsel Cho Eun-suk’s team detained Hwang after he failed to respond to three prior summonses for questioning.
