Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process moves to execution phase— Pashinyan
“The essence of the deal is as follows: Armenia and Azerbaijan recognize each other’s territorial integrity based on the [1991] Alma-Ata Declaration, open regional communications based on the Washington Declaration, carry out delimitation based on the already agreed-upon regulation, and leave each other in peace. This vision is also reflected in the initialed peace agreement,” he said.
The Armenian leader emphasized that sustaining peace requires consistent effort, noting that both the government and the public are fully dedicated to maintaining stability.
In August, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a joint declaration at a trilateral summit hosted at the White House alongside US President Donald Trump. The agreement aimed to resolve decades of conflict, with commitments to halt hostilities, reopen transport links, and normalize bilateral relations.
The two Southern Caucasus nations have been engaged in repeated clashes over the Karabakh region since the late 1980s, with Azerbaijan regaining full control over its territory in 2023.
