U.S. Greenlights USD3.42B F-16 Jet Sale to Peru

(MENAFN) The U.S. State Department has authorized a potential $3.42 billion sale of F-16 fighter jets and associated logistics and program support to Peru, the Pentagon announced Monday.

According to a statement from the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the transaction aims to significantly strengthen the Peruvian Air Force’s capacity to secure its airspace, protect national borders, and execute precision air-to-ground strikes in support of counter-narcotics and counterterrorism missions.

Lockheed Martin, General Electric Aerospace, and RTX Corporation are slated to serve as the primary contractors for this deal.

The DSCA formally notified Congress of the pending sale through the required certification on Monday.
