Trump, Zelenskyy Consider Replacing Ukraine Envoy to U.S.
The report indicated that several high-ranking Ukrainian officials are under consideration for the post, including Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and Energy Minister German Galushchenko.
According to the same source, Zelenskyy directed Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry to begin talks with American counterparts regarding the potential appointment.
Oksana Markarova has served as Kyiv’s ambassador to the United States since her appointment in February 2021.
Following the call, Zelenskyy posted on X, calling it a “very important and fruitful” conversation, and described it as “probably the best conversation we’ve had so far.”
Ukrainian officials have yet to issue a formal response to the report.
