Cambodia’s ASEAN Trade Reaches USD7.2B in Early 2025

(MENAFN) Cambodia’s trade with its Southeast Asian neighbors reached $7.2 billion in the first five months of 2025, marking a 5.5% increase compared to the same timeframe last year, according to a Ministry of Commerce report released Monday.

From January to May, Cambodian exports to other ASEAN countries totaled $2.7 billion—rising 10% year-on-year. Imports from the regional bloc stood at $4.5 billion, reflecting a modest 3% growth.

The report noted that trade with ASEAN made up 28.2% of Cambodia’s total international trade during the period.

Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia ranked as Cambodia’s top five ASEAN trading partners.

The ten-member ASEAN group includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

At a recent Cambodia-ASEAN business summit, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet praised the bloc’s economic trajectory, stating, “ASEAN has established itself as a beacon of stability and prosperity, with immense potential highlighted by its status as the world's fifth-largest economy.”

He highlighted the importance of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) in strengthening ASEAN’s resolve to enhance regional cooperation, noting that the agreement reaffirms the bloc’s strong commitment to advancing integration and promoting mutually advantageous economic and trade partnerships.
