Russian Ambassador Advises Citizens to Depart Israel

(MENAFN) Russia’s envoy to Israel has urged all Russian nationals currently in the country to depart due to the deteriorating conflict between Israel and Iran.

In a conversation with a state broadcaster, Anatoly Viktorov advised, “We recommend that all Russian citizens who are in Israel leave the country until the situation here is normalized. This is an option.”

Calling the current climate “tense,” Viktorov stressed that the threat to the “lives and health” of diplomats and Russian civilians in Israel is “by no means ephemeral,” underlining the seriousness of the risk.

The ambassador acknowledged that the Russian government may consider an official evacuation, including embassy employees, though such action would depend on the ability of Russian nationals to leave voluntarily.

“We are monitoring this closely and will make other decisions if necessary,” Viktorov continued, while encouraging individuals to exit via Egypt, a route already taken by “several dozen” Russians.

He mentioned that a land border with Jordan exists, but added that “flights are canceled periodically,” and the nation’s airspace remains restricted.

Viktorov also shared that although the embassy hasn’t sustained direct attacks, blast pressure has shattered several windows at the premises.

In response to the volatile conditions, staff have intensified their operational protocol.
