Iran Accuses Israel of Seeking to Spark Regional War
“We have no doubt that Israel wishes to fan the flames of the war as much as it can and spread the flames to other countries and players in the region,” Baghaei stated. He further condemned Israeli strikes on civilian targets, including residential buildings and a children’s hospital in Tehran.
Baghaei dismissed claims that Iran’s nuclear program posed a threat, asserting that the accusations serve as a mere excuse for Israel’s actions. He emphasized that no proof exists to show Iran has deviated from the “peaceful path” in its nuclear activities.
The spokesman also sharply criticized the U.S. government and its policymakers for their stance on the Israeli attacks. “Such stances made Iran more certain that they were part of Israel’s ‘lawbreaking and aggression,’” he said.
Since Friday, Israel has conducted air raids targeting Tehran and other Iranian regions, killing several high-ranking military officials, nuclear scientists, and civilians. In retaliation, Iran launched missile and drone strikes across various locations in Israel starting Friday night, causing casualties and significant destruction.
