Indian PM, Greek Cypriot Leader Hold High-Level Talks
The Indian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Modi’s visit was the first by an Indian premier to Greek Cyprus in over two decades—signaling a renewed diplomatic push between the two nations.
Both sides emphasized their strengthening ties, highlighting recent advancements in trade, technology, and cultural exchange. As per the joint statement, the two sides welcomed recent progress in ‘economic, technological, and people-to-people ties, reflective of the dynamic and evolving nature of the relationship.’
The leaders also addressed the future of international governance structures, with the statement noting they discussed "need for reform of the United Nations Security Council, including ways to make it more effective, efficient, and representative of contemporary geopolitical challenges.”
Demonstrating strong policy convergence, the Greek Cypriot side reiterated its commitment to advancing an EU-India free trade agreement by the end of this year.
