Zuma says Trump is loudmouth, who just wants to talk
“There is no genocide in South Africa, nothing, absolutely nothing. I take it that when people talk about genocide, it is when many people die. There is nothing of that nature in South Africa,” Zuma declared, emphasizing that the situation in the country does not meet any definition of genocide.
He went on to mock Trump, saying, “[Trump] just talks when he wants to talk, anything. I thought he would know better what genocide is. Now, for him to say so, it’s just a joke really,” suggesting the US president lacked understanding of the issue.
When questioned further about Trump’s remarks, Zuma showed disinterest, making it clear that US political commentary did not concern him. “Why should I worry myself about Trump? We have serious problems here to fix this country. No, I’m not going to talk about that,” he stated.
Meanwhile, South Africa’s current president, Cyril Ramaphosa, recently visited Washington, leading a delegation to try and mend ties between the two countries. This diplomatic move followed accusations from certain groups alleging a campaign of violence targeting white Afrikaners.
