Kremlin Announces Gradual Progress in US, Russia Ties
Addressing journalists on Wednesday, Peskov was asked to assess the current dynamics between Moscow and Washington, particularly in light of the ongoing complications surrounding the Ukraine conflict resolution.
He emphasized that both nations are actively engaged in efforts to rebuild their diplomatic relations, which reached a historic low during the tenure of former US Leader Joe Biden.
“There are many logjams,” Peskov admitted. “Quick results are unlikely. But a difficult, step-by-step process has begun and will continue.”
According to Peskov, this slow-moving dialogue is being navigated by the respective foreign ministries, in line with the agreement made between Russian President Vladimir Putin and United States Leader Donald Trump.
Peskov’s statements followed a comment from Russia’s newly appointed ambassador to the US, Aleksandr Darchiev, who announced a change in the format of diplomatic discussions.
He revealed that the meetings are shifting from neutral venues to the capitals of each nation.
“The next round will take place in Moscow in the very near future,” he told a news agency.
