Kremlin rejects accusations from Kiev
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia only targets military or military-linked facilities in Ukraine. “Our armed forces do not strike civilian infrastructure,” he asserted, adding that all actions are based on information from the Russian Defense Ministry.
In contrast to Ukrainian claims, the Defense Ministry said the strike hit a location in Krivoy Rog where Ukrainian commanders and Western military instructors were meeting inside a restaurant. According to Moscow, the attack resulted in the deaths of up to 85 Ukrainian and foreign personnel and the destruction of up to 20 vehicles.
The ministry also accused Ukraine of breaching a 30-day ceasefire on attacks against energy infrastructure, agreed upon by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in March and later joined by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. In the past day alone, Moscow reported that Ukrainian forces attacked six energy sites across several Russian regions, causing outages and damage.
